Rufi Holsteins Capture Honors at Lafayette County Fair
The John W. Rufi Holsteins earned senior grand champion bull junior championship female 12 firsts and four seconds at Lafayette County Fair. They will show at Green County Fair next week Wednesday through Sunday. Carnation Butter Boy Halo won senior grand championship. Rufi Homestead Neoka Lady took junior championship female honors and previously won at Evansville Tri-County show. Blue ribbons went to multiple entries including two-year-old bull aged bull junior yearling bull senior heifer calf junior yearling heifer three-year-old cow best uddered two-year-old and breeder young herd. Second places included senior and junior bull calf senior yearling heifer and two-year heifer. The Ruffs east of Monroe were the only Green County Holstein exhibitors at the event.

Highway 11 Resurfacing Set From Brodhead to Orfordville
W. J. Kerttula announced the Madison district will start resurfacing Highway 11 from Brodhead to the Orfordville limit within 10 days. The six mile project includes Center Avenue and First Street in Brodhead with grading and bituminous pavement by Rein, Schultz and Dahl, Inc., for about 260,668 dollars and a projected 80 day completion. Traffic will remain open during construction.
