New Northside Elementary under rapid construction

Work on the Northside Elementary School after a standstill in March and April is moving quickly with a possible completion date of November 1. Attendance areas will be reorganized with seven classes moving to the new site and twelve in temporary quarters, while some teachers will switch to new classrooms and others remain in basement spaces at several schools.

Youth Injured After Tractor Tip at Hollandale Farm

Douglas Jungbluth, 14, of Hollandale, was seriously hurt when a tractor tipped over on him at the family farm. He was taken to Dodgeville General Hospital by an Iowa County ambulance and later transferred to St. Mary's Hospital in Madison with a critical condition.

Olmstead rites scheduled for Vietnam fallen Sgt John Paul Olmstead

Full military rites will honor Sgt John Paul Olmstead of Warren Illinois who was killed in action in Vietnam. The service is set for 2 p.m. Monday at Bartell Funeral Home with burial in Union Grove Cemetery Darling ton. The casket will arrive after 3 a.m. in East Dubuque. Surviving are his parents two brothers three sisters and grandparents.

Monroe Parks and Recreation sponsors a teen dance at the Community Center tonight from 8 to 11 p.m. for Monroe high school students, with 114 junior high and high school youths attending a recent event. Four Persons Hurt Seriously in Crash

A mother and her three children were hospitalized after a two car intersection collision. Scott Dean Hipke, 7, Evansville, is in critical condition with severe head injuries. Mrs. Allan J. Hipke and Mrs. Elizabeth O Connor, both drivers, sustained injuries. two other children also suffered head injuries. The crash occurred at 1 14 p m at County Trunk W and Highway 9. This was the area’s most serious of several crashes reported that day.

Road safety package would raise drinking age and expand tests

The legislature backed a traffic safety compromise proposing raising the beer drinking age to 19 nationwide with local option to 21, requiring parental consent for under 21 to obtain IDs. It calls for breath tests for suspected drunken drivers, annual auto inspections, and mandatory retesting rules.

MADISON Wisconsin cheddar prices were unchanged on most sizes with small declines in large styles and junior grades. American cheese production for the week ending July 13 was about 28 million pounds, down 5 percent from the prior week. Wisconsin Swiss prices held firm and overall market supplies remained adequate to ample.

Hearing On Delta Jet Crash Sheds New Details

An NTSB inquiry into the March Delta Airlines DC8 crash near New Orleans finds the wing flaps lowered too sharply causing a side slip. The jet with 50 degree flaps broke through two homes and hit the Hilton Inn, killing six aboard and 13 on the ground, including nine Juda Wisconsin schoolgirls.

Sturgeon Bay Wisconsin State Conservation Department director L P Voigt won broad backing Thursday night for leading the new Natural Resources Board created under the Kellett Government Reorganization act. Green County Fair Opens After Preparations

C L Doug Hare president of the 113th Green County Fair announced readiness as the fair opens at 1 p m Wednesday July 26 for five days with cattle exhibits and tents set up. Open class entries must be filed by 5 p m tomorrow at the Administration office in the new Exhibition Hall. Judging begins on opening day and continues through Saturday with junior fair judging lists in progress.
