United Nations negotiators reported some progress in Korean war cease-fire talks at Kaesong with a hopeful timetable. The agenda remains unresolved as allied and red delegations argue terms amid guarded calm and a two hour recess.
Albert C Olson 80 life resident of Lafayette county died last night at 8 10 in St Clare hospital after a stroke Friday. He born Wayne township July 23 1870 to Chris and Helena Olson. He married Hattie Nelson March 10 1903 and farmed locally. Survived by wife a son Raymond a daughter Mrs Joseph Larson two sisters Mrs Bertha Brenum Mrs Tillie Anderson two brothers Simon Joseph four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral Wednesday at 1 30 p m Hanson funeral home and 2 at West Viota church, Rev M A Sorenson Jr officiating, burial in church cemetery.
The park board will elect a new president and secretary at a 7:30 p m meeting at the Youth Center. Current president is Lee A Mitchell and secretary is Mrs John A Schindler. Five members will form a quorum with Louis F Blanc and Floyd W Matzke absent. Other members are Mrs Nell Cunningham Wesley L Dodge and Rudolph P Regez.

Two petitions on parking rules will be reviewed by the city council police and safety committee in a meeting at city hall at 7 30 p m today. One seeks free parking for Monroe's Dollar days August 10 and 11. The other asks extended meter hours to protect parking for businesses open nights and Sundays.

Donald Pehl aged 17 of Woodford was knocked unconscious by a lightning bolt while unloading whey on the Dwaine Chapman farm near Argyle. He was found unconscious by Kenneth Hale and transported by Argyle and Monroe officers to St. Clare hospital at 8:45 a m suffering only from shock. He is employed at the Chapman farm, and the bolt struck nearby as he loaded livestock.
