Meshnick, whose home is in New London, has been here since July 11, 1949, as a soil conservationist in training. Flooded crops in the Browntown area are a complete loss as two Pecatonica river branches recede slowly. Pasture lands and grain fields will be covered with river silt. Highway 11 at Browntown saw floodwater at the Bechtoldt flats while the roadbed was raised to avoid Skinner creek. Youth Arrested Stole Two Autos in Separate Cities
A 16-year-old Chicago youth, arrested yesterday in Darlington by Lafayette county authorities, admitted stealing a car in Chicago shortly after leaving St. Charles school for boys. He wrecked the vehicle near Schuetz corner four miles from Monroe, then stole another car in Monroe's 1100 block of 15th avenue and abandoned it near a cheese factory. The second car belonged to M. Louis Niffenegger, parked at 7:45 am and found with two flat tires at 5 pm. The youth said he fled Chicago to escape confinement and has spent most of his life in an orphanage.

Mrs. Cora Ellen Mann 78 a daughter of pioneer Brodhead area residents died yesterday in Platte South Dakota while visiting a daughter. She had lived in Rockford the past two and a half years. Born Avon township in 1873 she was widow of Irving S Mann who died November 22 1920 Geddes South Dakota. She later resided with daughter Mrs Joseph A Salgiato in Rockford. Services will be held tomorrow in Platte with burial at Geddes.
