Youth Admits Farm Slaying
A 16 year old Racine youth admitted killing Curtis Stephens a 52 year old Dodgeville farmer. Judge Jones will appoint an attorney and arrange psychiatric exam. The youth was remanded to the Iowa County jail and held on an open charge. Sheriff Reese said the suspect admitted waiting for Stephens to ride the tractor then shot him. He was captured Saturday after a county worker spotted him near Barneveld.

Schwitz to Become County Deputy in Sheriff’s Office
Leslie M. Schwitz a Monroe police officer for five years will resign to join the County Sheriff's Department as a fulltime deputy. A veteran of law enforcement since 1948 he has served as Orangeville worker Monticello village marshal June 1949 to October 1952 and deputy sheriff until 1956 before joining the city police. He sought sheriff in 1956 and 1958 the resignation takes effect Aug 1 and he is expected to start with the county earlier to fill the retirement vacancy of George W Armstrong.

Zwicky Cheese Leader Dies at 75
Henry W. Zwicky founder of the Milwaukee Cheese Co. died at 75 from a stroke in Columbia hospital Milwaukee after illness since October. He helped build one of Wisconsin’s early cheese by truck routes firms and was active in the Wisconsin Cheese Exchange and local organizations. He leaves a widow Edna a son Robert H. and a daughter Mrs Richard H. Lillie along with a brother and sister. Private services were planned at Feerick funeral home Shorewood.

At 8:59 a.m. the 98 foot Midas III fizzled, lifting only briefly before a flame and smoke erupted at the pad.
