Fred W Marty 76 of 620 22nd Ave died at St Clair hospital at 9 20 am after a tumor illness and a thigh fracture. A pioneer in Swiss cheese quality control he judged cheese at expositions and Wisconsin fairs and helped in state dairy inspection. Survived by widow Elizabeth Stauffacher and brothers Carl Gottlieb and others. Services Monday 1 30 pm Shriner Neushwander funeral home with burial at Greenwood.

A Canadian Pacific Railway freight train derailed four miles east of Wetaskiwin Alberta collapsing into a ditch. Engineer Giles MacDonald aged 58 and Fireman Michael Mackowichuk aged 41, both from Edmonton, were killed.

Two Indiana Men Victims of Monoxide Poisoning
Two Indiana vacationers were found dead in a lake cottage they rented, identified as Charles Dressler, 63, of Delphi, and his brother William, 67, of Lafayette. Sheriff Gaber said carbon monoxide poisoning from a gas hot plate, used to heat the closed cottage on Lake Noko, caused the deaths.

Annual Election Meeting for Monroe Joint School District No 1
The Monroe Joint School District No 1 in the city will hold its annual meeting Monday at 8 p m in the high school auditorium to elect three board members and approve the 1954 55 school budget of 383 000. Terms expiring are G E Zuercher Rodney O Kittelsen and Mrs Perle Guess. The budget requires 288 000 in city taxes, up 20 000 from last year, aided by 10 000 more outside revenues. The report shows 1953 54 outlay 357 247 75 with 4 247 75 over the budget estimate. The 1954 55 budget increases capital outlay for a new heating plant and salaries. Debt payments fall to 19 331 25. The July 1 balance is 186 922 81, largely committed to operating needs. Total revenues last year were 370 256 72 versus a 353 000 budget.
