Talk Closed Season On Ducks This Fall
Wisconsin Rapids reports on a continent wide closed season for ducks as a possible remedy. Clarence Searles and eight surveyors counted 351 ducks on Delta marsh near Lake Manitoba, with canvasbacks likely under 75 birds. They point to flood and drought shrinking nesting duck populations across Mindnosa area and Delta marsh. The Manitoba meeting supported a continent wide closed season if the situation is critical, amid formation of the International Wildfowlers Association led by Dr. W. F. Thisdale of Ducks Unlimited Canada.
