Fire destroys Blanchardville St Michael mission church

No further information has been received about Pfc John Leroy Whitehead listed as missing in action in Germany since December 21. He was a Monroe native, son of Ernest Whitehead, and enlisted March 10, 1943, trained at Fort Jackson and Camp Atterbury, and went overseas in November with the 106th Infantry Division alongside many Monroe and Green County locals who were reported missing during the German offensive December 16 to January 7.
