Jet Airliner Slices Nation in Record Flights

Helen L. Gempeler, Monroe city treasurer since May 1 1950, died at 9 24 a m in St Clare hospital after pneumonia diabetes and kidney stoppage. Born Jan 13 1907 in Jordan Township she was active in local government and civic groups. Surviving are her father a daughter a brother and a granddaughter with arrangements pending.

A fire drill at St. Clare hospital as part of a special fire control program was successful on Saturday. Twenty one Senior Girl Scouts from Monroe served as patients under Mrs. George R. Barry, with staff trained in hip-carry, two person carry, and blanket carries for safe patient removal.
