Dr H B Caradine Died At 63 Headed Banking and Dentistry
Dr Harold B Caradine 63 of 1330 23rd avenue a longtime dentist in Monroe for 38 years and a bank director died at 6 p m in St Clare hospital after weeks of cancer. He was ill since mid December and treated at St Clare and Madison Methodist hospital. Born Albany November 22 1891 he moved to Monroe in 1899 and excelled in football basketball and baseball. He led Monroe high to a four state grid title in 1911 and later won golf titles including the J H Durst Cup. He served in Company H and joined his father in practice in 1917. He helped found the Glen Zilmer American Legion post and was its first adjutant. He married Alma Miller November 14 1917. He built radios and was active in Kiwanis banking as director of Citizens Bank and later First National Bank. He is survived by his widow and son Dr John F Carradine. Services Wednesday at Immanuel church. interment at Greenwood later. The First National and Commercial and Savings banks will close at 1 pm.

Farmers Night Set for March 16 in Monroe Hall

St Clare hospital cared for 6,095 patients in 1954 up 38 from 1953 with peak 144 and low 75. Average stay rose to 6.8 days from 6.4. Daily admissions averaged 16.5, census 111.5, total daily 298.5 with 838 births including six sets of twins. Physical therapy treatment rose sharply from 2,088 in 1953 to 4,279 in 1954.

Dalton youth cited for driving too fast for conditions. In a second crash at 4 15 p m at 23rd avenue and 12th street James N Davis Sr 65 of 2519 10th street and Robert L Arntz 23 of 2506 12th street sustained car damage including headlight bumper guard door fender and windshield.
