Three men linked to Yablonski death accused of conspiracy
The first of three suspects in the killings of Joseph Yablonski and his wife and daughter was charged with conspiring to kill Yablonski to stop him from testifying before a federal grand jury. Death of Monroe Auto Firm Owner Jacob Wiltfang
Jacob L. Wiltfang 65 of Monroe, owner of Green County Auto Co, died suddenly of a heart attack at his home January 21. He started in Monroe as a mechanic, became partner in 1944, sole owner in 1956, and moved the dealership to Highway 11 W. He served in World War II and is survived by his widow Sadie, son Burton, two brothers, two sisters, and two grandchildren. Visitation begins Friday with a Friday prayer service, and funeral rites follow Saturday at Ebenezer Reformed Church.

George McKinley Berry a 52 year old Gratiot resident perished in a January 21 fire that destroyed his one story home. Coroner Dr Lyle Olson ruled accidental death from fire and smoke inhalation with overheated space heater cited. Firefighters battled the blaze in 15 below weather, found Berry on the bed. Funeral services set for January 24 at 1 p.m. by OFlahrity Funeral Home Shullsburg with no visitation.
