A Monroe survey of community leaders finds little evidence of a unique youth morals problem. Police chief, principal, judge, welfare director and clergy say the issue is exaggerated and mainly a national perception. Parents defend the town’s youth and cite high standards.
Judge Arthur Luebke of Green County's 12th Judicial Circuit has been invited to attend the White House Conference on Children and Youth in Washington DC from March 27 to April 2. He was sworn in January 4 to replace the late Judge Harry S. Fox and will first appear in Green County Circuit Court on February 13 for a motions day. He may visit Monroe next week to acquaint himself with local facilities.
Marcus Bodoh, 47, of rural Shioden, died Wednesday on a Fremont area farm when a tree he was chopping fell and caused a compound skull fracture.
John Erb and W L Wells were named Outstanding Senior Citizen and Outstanding Young Man at Monroe Jaycee Bosses Night in the Monroe Country Club. Kenneth Ubert won Outstanding Young Farmer. Lt. Gov. Philip Nash lauded Erb for 33 years of service and snow removal. Wells, Chocolate Shop proprietor and current Jaycee president, was praised for work with youth and civic projects.

County Judge Marshall L. Peterson filed nomination papers for the 12th Circuit Court vacancy created by the death of Judge Harry S. Fox. A three way primary is set for March 8 with Arthur Luebke and Howard Moss and the two winners to appear on the April 5 ballot. Peterson filed in Madison this morning. Green County has never had a circuit judge.
Five Wisconsin farm leaders will be honored January 27 for significant contributions to the state's agriculture. Citations go to Clinton Griswold and his wife of West Salem, Gavin McKerrow of Pewaukee, William Danielson of Cadott, and W James Prosser of Antigo.
Madison Wisconsin traders report cheese demand fair to good with prices largely unchanged. Cheddar moisture basis trades around 55 to 56 percent, 40 pound blocks carry a 36 to 36 percent moisture premium, single daisies at 38 to 39 percent, Longhorns at 38 to 39 percent, and Midgets around 38 to 39 percent.
At Turner hall yesterday Green County Farm Bureau members re-elected three directors Glenn Roderick Walter Streiff and Edward Roth and named Lloyd Deininger as a new director to replace Carl Sippel. The service company also named two new directors Edward Kaderly and Martin Dickson. Roderick presided as Rev. Hinebaugh delivered the invocation. Patronage refunds totaling 29972 30 were distributed with returns to members.
Democrats in the Assembly push 27 measures toward quick action to clear the chamber for a recess through late spring. Speaker Molinaro says recess votes depend on finishing other business. Senate supports May 3 recess and a four year term constitutional amendment. multiple bills advance or die in the process.

Karl Koch moderates with John Walter county juvenile officer Dwight Coplien assistant police chief Mrs. Raymond Kubly Jr. former welfare employee Lloyd Nielsen high school principal and James Speerschneider guidance counselor. They cite rising unwed mother cases cited to better referrals and counseling as a key to prevention.
City Health Officer George M. Uhl reported that Asian flu has been listed as the primary cause of 12 Los Angeles County deaths as the outbreak continued twelve days. Pneumonia deaths totaling 49 in the same period nearly double the year before.
Senator Kennedy announces entry into the Wisconsin presidential primary amid a tough race with Senator Humphrey. He says Lyndon Johnson remains his main rival for delegates and predicts a decisive effect from Wisconsin. Humphrey welcomes Kennedy and calls for debates on a shared platform.
A Colombian Avianca jet bound from New York to Bogota exploded on landing at Montego Bay. Seventeen victims were Americans including Thomas C. Capehart and Nancy Capehart of Indianapolis. Four crew members survived the two hour blaze. the crash is part of a spate of deadly air incidents worldwide in January 1960.
Britain raised its official bank rate from 4 to 5 percent to curb investment outflow. The move came as sterling area gold and hard currency reserves declined by 238 million dollars in December and 333.2 million dollars for 1959 overall.
In a televised confrontation, Fidel Castro gave Spain’s ambassador 24 hours to leave Cuba. He recalled Cuba’s ambassador to Madrid, Jose Miro Cardona, and the Spanish envoy Juan Pablo de Lojendio was escorted from the studio amid a hostile crowd. Rep. William E. Miller of New York was chosen as chairman of the Republican Congressional Committee. His main rival Rep. William M. McCulloch of Ohio withdrew to avoid a party split. Miller succeeds the late Rep. Richard M. Simpson of Pennsylvania.
Dr Robert Vernon Spears of Dallas, a naturopath with travel insurance, was found with explosives in his Phoenix motel luggage after being listed as a dead passenger on a National Airlines flight that crashed in the Gulf of Mexico. FBI questioned his ties to a Tampa man and a New York lawyer linked to another crash investigation.
