Local reports cite firings nationwide amid budget cuts. The department pledges stricter enforcement of import bans on animals and meat from affected countries.

Taxidermist F. D. Burlingame Dies at 84 in Orfordville
Frank D. Burlingame 84 died at his Orfordville home at 2 a.m. after a stroke on November 27, 1951. Born November 4, 1867 in Madison New York he lived in Markesaw Ft. Atkinson Waukesha and Janesville before settling in Orfordville where he was known as a taxidermist. He married four times most recently in 1921 to Birdie Stevens and is survived by two sons and three grandsons. He belonged to the Elks United Order of Forestry and Knights of Pythias. Arrangements are pending at Everson funeral home Brodhead.
