Two Oshkosh girls Cheryl Rogge seven and cousin Elizabeth Mauritz twelve die after their snowmobile is swept from a ride under a low bridge near Oshkosh. Another rider Don Gilmore twenty one of Horicon dies after being thrown beside a rural road northwest of Merrill.
Two Green County men, Fran Denny of Monroe and James Fahey of Belleville, place second and third behind Thomas A. Brunner of Shawano County among Wisconsin’s outstanding young farmers.
