Rep. Reuss seeks half of Falls Dairy pollution fine

Madison AP reports Rep. Henry Reuss D Wis filed a claim to take half of a 1500 dollar fine levied on Falls Dairy Co of Jim Falls for water pollution. He intends to donate the proceeds to Wisconsin State Department of Natural Resources for use by municipalities building sewage treatment plants.

Argument Over Loud Music Sparks Vietnam Shooting

A 24 year old soldier was charged with murder and attempted murder for shooting two majors after an argument over a loud phonograph. The Majors returned to Quang Tri quarters about 12 15 a m Thursday and heard loud music from a stereo set where five soldiers were listening. When asked to lower the volume the men argued and shots were fired.

Harriman Says Russians Seek Peace Amid Indochina Talks

W Averell Harriman, former Paris peace negotiator, told reporters in Moscow that the Russians still want the Indochina war halted and helped arrange the 1968 U S air strike halt. He noted Soviet help in settling conference table disputes and anticipated progress toward a general agreement. Harriman is in Moscow to introduce Sen. Volunteen program honors eleven health career trainees

Eleven girls earned 50 hour Volunteen pins at St. Clare Hospital as part of the auxiliary sponsored junior volunteer program. The group, open to any teen 15 and up, works in pediatrics, Cerebral Palsy Clinic and messenger services while receiving training from Sister M. Jeanette. Attendees included Mrs. William Young and Mrs. Donald Springer, who urged ongoing education in health fields and noted enrollees already pursuing nursing, pre med, and related studies at Wisconsin, St. Olaf, Monroe High, Carroll College, and Augustana.
