Monroe teenagers voted to join the March of Dimes fund drive with an auction and bake sale snack bar at Turner Hall. Jon Hurlbut named general chairman with Ronald D. Johnson as adult adviser. Toll bridges will collect funds at 13th Ave and 16th Ave near Lincoln School. A Mothers March will follow with date to be set.

John Herbst 79 Shullsburg Dies After Long Illness
SHULLSBURG Special John Herbst 79 of Shullsburg died yesterday in Hazel Green hospital after a long illness. Born in Germany he came to the United States at a young age and lived in Dubuque before settling in Shullsburg in 1915. He retired two years ago. Survivors include his wife five daughters six sons and 35 grandchildren. Services will be Saturday at 9 am at St Mathews Church with Rev James Misna officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the family home.

Protein Price List to Debut in Monroe Retailers
The Evening Times will publish a first in a series of protein price tables guiding thrifty shoppers. Monroe, Wisconsin, becomes the first city to carry these tables prepared by the Protein Economics and Research Council Inc. of Ames Iowa. Harry C Andrews of the council gathered data with Allen's IGA Kroger Brennan's supermarkets. Items will show protein price per unit and usual price. About 40 percent of the food dollar is spent on protein and 49 percent on fats sugars starches and minerals.

Harold W. Tuttle 66 former Monroe druggist died after months of illness at his Ft. Atkinson home. He sold his Monroe store to the Ford Hopkins firm in 1929 and later bought a Ft. Atkinson drugstore. Born May 30, 1888 in Clinton he studied there and at Marquette Pharmacy. Surviving wife Meta Hornke two sons Dr Thomas Tuttle and James two sisters and four grandchildren. Services set for Saturday at St Peters church with Masonic rites burial Evergreen cemetery.

Emma Goodman 77 of Blanchardville died yesterday in a Monroe hospital after a heart ailment. She ran a farm with her brother Lewis until his 1942 death and was born March 23, 1877 to Embret and Lesa Larson Goodman. She was a Yellowstone Lutheran Church member with survivors including three nieces and three nephews. Funeral services Sunday at 1:30 p m at Yellowstone Lutheran Church with burial beside the church. Erickson Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Evansville special report says Wilbur Phillips 77 of Evansville died yesterday in a Madison hospital after a long illness. A Milford native, he married Lena Culp of Oregon in 1915 she died in 1953. Survivors include son Arthur and three daughters, two brothers, and 15 grandchildren. Services set for Saturday at 2 PM at Congregational church with Rev. Wendell Marshall officiating burial in Maple Hill cemetery.

Free Milk Days At Local Schools Prompted by Gift
More than 650 half pint cartons were consumed yesterday at the junior high in a first of free milk days. The dairy machine donated by Albert H Stoldt was emptied though it costs less than a nickel per carton. Superintendent FE O Evans says the project is non-profit and will repeat in junior high tomorrow and in senior high next Wednesday and Thursday.
