MADISON AP A proposal for compulsory chemical tests for drunk drivers was unanimously endorsed Wednesday by the State Highway Safety Advisory Committee. The plan requires suspects to take a test or lose a license for 60 days and lowers the blood alcohol limit from .15 to .10. It also expands court discretion on penalties for first offenses and includes ambulance operator licensing, uniform traffic court procedures, and birth date proving requirements for licenses. Seat belt mandates and interagency jurisdiction accords were deferred pending more data.

Blaze Leaves Five Homeless Near Brooklyn Farm
The Glenn Dahlen family five people including three children lost their home when a fire destroyed a frame house on Edwin Pernot farm two miles south and one half mile west of Brooklyn. Fire crews arrived about 9 pm and found the kitchen engulfed. The Dahlens were away visiting Harold Gransee's family. cause is undetermined. The children ages range from kindergarten to one year old.
