Mrs. Florence Brainard aged 87 died at 8 last night at her son-in-law and daughter’s home 2204 8th Street where she had lived. Born July 20 1866 in Bear Valley she married Charles C Brainard in 1891 and lived on a farm near Lone Rock before moving to Monroe in 1926. Burial Bear Valley Cemetery.
County sheriffs continued a manhunt for burglars tied to a string of thefts across Green and Lafayette counties. Sheriff Wilbur E. Deininger and Lafayette Sheriff Lawrence James shared notes on suspects active in a five county area. Browns town firms and Juda firms were robbed, totaling $550, with high schools in Benton, South Wayne, and Shullsburg entered in Lafayette County.

Gus Gellein a 62 year old Janesville carpenter died last night when his car failed to make a curve on Highway 1 four miles northeast of Orfordville and rolled multiple times. Coroner E J Overton said he was killed instantly with crushing injuries and his body found in the rear of the demolished car. Deputy sheriffs noted extensive damage and scattered parts beyond 100 feet. Arrangements are being made at Reining Funeral Home in Janesville.
A family dinner at 1302 21st street will climax the 958th birthday observance for John J Burkhard Sr. Despite his age he remains humorous and lively. Amarillo police and First National Bank officials investigated the disappearance of a $75,000 shipment of five and ten dollar bills from a teller cage. The money was part of three sacks headed to the Federal Reserve Bank in Dallas and disappeared about 1 50 p m amid a crowded lobby. A new teller spotted an unfamiliar man near the rear door around the time of the loss.
