Susan Parmer Doing Well After Surgery
Susan Parmer sixteen was badly hurt in an auto crash November twenty first and had leg surgery Friday at St Clare Hospital due to complications. Her condition is satisfactory and she remains hospitalized for weeks as she recovers, aided by her Brooklyn relatives Mr and Mrs William Parmer. The crash killed her parents Mr and Mrs Robert J Palmer of Brodhead and her siblings Robert ten and Sally fourteen. Susan previously walked with crutches and now has eighty percent use of her right arm after recovering from paralysis. Her brother Steven twelve and sister Emily seven also survived the accident.

She arrived in Winslow with her parents in the 1860s in a covered wagon as Stephenson County grew as a railroad and milling center. She outlived a son Burt and another son Roscoe a retired United Airlines captain now living with her. She remains mentally sharp though eyesight and hearing are poor. no special plans for the anniversary.
