In Belfast two policemen died early as gun battles with IRA snipers tore through fire lit streets. Two snipers were believed dead and four officers wounded with one given last rites. The two week uneasy peace ended with Friday night explosions and fires set by gelignite.
The Legislative Council's Medical Education Advisory Committee proposed several aid options for Wisconsin medical students on Friday. Officials at the medical college said 106 Wisconsin residents were offered positions last year, but only 48 attended. The college was formerly the Marquette School of Medicine.
