Wisconsin schools face a buyer's market for teachers as the CCHE reports an end to a long-term shortage in elementary and secondary educators. Petit Juror Panel Drawn for New Term

Auctioneer Marvin Bidlingmaier found dead in car

Marvin A Bidlingmaier 46 of Winslow Illinois was found dead Wednesday evening in his car from carbon monoxide poisoning per coroner. He served on Martintown and Blackhawk school boards and was a longtime auctioneer. He was survived by his wife Marilyn three sons his mother and a brother with funeral services Saturday at Stuessy's Monroe.

Local Selective Service Offices to Consolidate

The Green County Selective Service Board 24 at Monroe moves to Janesville offices within 60 to 90 days under Curtis Tarr directives. Reorganization will cut Wisconsin boards from 71 to 38 and shift records to area offices while aiding staff to find new positions.

Nixon warns of broader Indochina war risk and hard choices

President Nixon says Hanoi has widened the war into Indochina and predicts more tough decisions for the U S and allies in South Vietnam Cambodia and Laos. He pledges continued troop withdrawals while remaining forces may stay as long as North Vietnam holds a prisoner.

Eight North Vietnamese Tanks Attack Base in Laos

Eight NVA tanks struck Hill 31 inside Laos but five were destroyed and the remaining three fled pursued by U S bombers. The attack marked the first tank use in the Laos drive to cut the Ho Chi Minh trail now in its 18th day. American losses again rose with 59 killed and 42 nonhostile deaths, the highest weekly toll in 50 months, while 217 were wounded. South Vietnamese casualties totaled 432 killed and 1,446 wounded.

Firemen Plan March 9 Lecture After Building Tours

Monroe volunteer firemen toured the Northside School and Joe's White Elephant to learn building layouts and utility access. Bruce Townsend was accepted on a one year probation. A March 9 lecture by Capt. Jerry Vickers titled Bomb Scares will be held at 7 p.m. at the Fire House with invited local officials and departments. Refreshments followed the meeting.

Rev Fulton Accepts Call to Calvary Baptist Watertown

Rev Wylie Fulton of Monroe has accepted a call to assist Calvary Baptist Church Watertown Wis in preaching and teaching with a focus on Christian Education. He will organize and teach fifth and sixth grades for Calvary Baptist Christian Day School starting fall 1971 and will join the school as a staff educator.
