Browntown area crashes injure three in sequence
A car steering failure sent a Browntown pair off the road, injuring Joe Rothenback and Elizabeth Bond who were treated and released. The driver Dennis M. Mikkelson escaped injury. In Monroe, a collision between Francis Donny and Thomas Cowley damaged left sides, while a Beloit parking ramp hit-and-run damaged a parked car. Police continue investigations.

Lee F Olsen former junior and senior high principal and curriculum aide in Monroe was named Superintendent of Monroe Schools by the school board. He will take the post July 1 1970 replacing Derwin Huenink who resigned after 14 years. Olsen 32 a Green Bay native holds a BS from Carroll College an MA from the University of New Mexico and is pursuing a doctorate at the University of Wisconsin.

Leo Hilfiker Killed in Baraboo Car Truck Crash
A former Monroe resident and Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction official, Leo R. Hilfiker, 40, Madison, died at the scene when his car collided with a semi-trailer at the Highways 12 and 159 intersection two miles south of Baraboo. The truck driver, Gary Petranek, 23, Wisconsin Dells, was under observation at St. Clare’s Hospital in Baraboo. memorial services are set for Feb. 28 in Madison.
