Argyle Singers Added to Billing For Heart Show

Argyle High School Madrigal Singers join a long lineup for the Song in My Heart benefit at the Junior High School auditorium Saturday at 7 p.m. Mrs. Doris Kubly chairs the event listing nine acts including the Green County Barbershop Chorus, yodeler Mrs. Roy Vetterli, the duo Josean Retrum and Rosanne Reynolds, and the Ted Mack auditioning acts. Tickets are sold at local banks, Ruf’s Confectionery, and Alpha Zeta Sorority members. John Schermerhorn will host.

Mary Jean Zuhlke, 14, is bedridden but connected to Monroe Junior High via an intercom system. She attends classes from bed using a Milwaukee Brace and a home broadcast setup, reciting lessons and viewing slides with film strips while her teachers and classmates act as her “ears.”

Bloodmobile to Visit Monroe in New Building Monday

The Bloodmobile comes to Monroe this Monday from 11 30 a m to 6 30 p m in the Municipal Building community room. A 115 pint quota is urged with 9 A negative donors needed for open heart surgery. Local groups including Green County Homemaker Clubs and Dr James R Weir provide support and volunteers.

Lanz reports 1967 Monroe Cheese Days will beSeptember 16 and 17 with parade units already committed. Six units a band and five floats, plus plans for Drum and Bugle Corps, a Carnival, and a possible Circus World wagon display. Parking changes to speed parade marshalling and a shift to the square for the carnival were discussed.

Monroe Board weighs Clover design for new school

Monroe Board of Education viewed four leaf clover style designs for a proposed 500 pupil elementary school on Schmitz property. The plan emphasizes flexible spaces with six rooms per clover section and a central library, aiming to avoid corridors and support large and small group instruction while preparing for rapid teaching changes. Design cost equals conventional buildings with space for 560 to 600 students and a bond election may follow land purchase in April.

Diane Siedschlag Selected Delegate for UN Pilgrimage

Diane Siedschlag daughter of Marvin and Mrs. Siedschlag of 2023 Lincoln Road has been named as Esther Rebekah lodge's sixth annual delegate to the IOOF Rebekah United Nations Pilgrimage for Youth. She will visit UN sessions and the International School of the UN and speak with children and ambassadors. Diane is active in church, school, and 4-H, and serves as president of the Lat in Club and vice president of the County Cluster. She is a junior at Monroe High School and principal clarinetist in multiple musical groups.

Area Home Destroyed By Early Morning Fire

The home of Mr and Mrs Warren Dilley Route 1 Gra tiot was completely destroyed by a blaze reported yesterday morning. Fire Chief Carroll Parkinson said by the time firefighters arrived there was nothing left. No occupants were home. Dilley saw smoke and investigated prompting the call to the Darlington Fire Department.

Swiss Colony Wins Land Expansion Approval in Monroe

Monroe planning commission granted Swiss Colony Inc. permission to exercise an option on an additional acre in the Monroe Industrial Park. The project enlarges plans to a 20,000 square foot building near 7th Ave and 7th St to house offices and warehouse space, consolidating operations. The panel also approved closing the alley north of 6th St at the request of Marty Ripp Chevrolet to allow an expansion. City Council must still approve the proposals.
