Tourism Group Hears Monthey At New Glarus

Green County tourism rally at the New Glarus hotel featured UW Extension specialist L G Monthey urging county cooperation to grow tourism. He cited access, resources, events, and hospitality as key, with lodging and services shaping spending. Roy Richardson of Southeastern Wisconsin Vacations and Association said eight counties will be promoted with 100000 brochures by May 1.

Patrols Seek Missing Woman in Florida Run

The Monroe Evening Times publisher C. Mamuwa arrived in Saugatuck Michigan to help search for his step-mother Mrs Edmund C Hamilton Sr who vanished while traveling by car toward Florida She left Saturday morning and did not reach any planned stop The Michigan State Patrol began the search and was joined by Indiana and Kentucky patrols Sheriff Robert Whitcomb of Allegan County and Detective Charles Longers led the inquiry Hamilton widow of E C Hamilton Sr who died August 5 1963.

Royalty Chosen For Monroe High Prom Event

Janes Martin son of sir and Mrs Lenwood Martin and Nan cy Hardyman Route 4 will reign over the 1964 Monroe high school prom. The prom is set for May 1 with pre prom dinner and dance. Post prom events start at 1 a.m. May 2 at Monroe Country Club and a Goetz theater movie at 3 a.m.

Carlisle Runge, assistant to the UW president, told alumni and local officials Monroe remains a potential location for a junior college and educational center. Retires on March 31 Military Ball for Burgy in Green County

Lt. Col. Theodore J. Burgy Jr. will retire after 28 years of active service with Green County's National Guard. A 14th annual Easter Military Ball honors him on April 4, following his official retirement March 31. Burgy's career spans service in World War II, Berlin crisis duty, and leadership roles from private to lieutenant colonel. He has been a longtime VFW and American Legion member and currently serves as Green County Veterans Service Officer and Monroe alderman.

Aldermen Back Parking Plan for Monroe Clinic Expansion

Monroe Clinic plans a four story addition downtown after the City Council unanimously pledged new parking. The project includes land on a property to be purchased from Margaret Burgy, with homes to be razed to make room.
