Monroe Wins Three State Berths in Reedsburg Wrestling
Monroe high school advanced three prep wrestlers to the state tournament at the WIAA sectional in Reedsburg. Bob Pick 154, Dave Ziltener 165, and Rod Sonnenburg 138 earned state berths. Dave Pick reached the finals but lost. Richland Center won the team title with 54 points, Monroe 40, Madison West 39, Wisconsin High 34, and Reedsburg 32.

Three Injured In Double Crash North of Monroe
Sheriff officials seek the operator of an unidentified vehicle believed to have sideswiped a car after a bus auto crash north of Monroe yesterday afternoon. Alfred Sulzer 39 and his two sons Paul 16 and William 14 were hospitalized at St. Clare after the 12 42 p m collision on Highway 69 between Monroe and Monticello. Sulzer had surgery for a compound fracture of the left ankle. Paul suffered a cerebral concussion and a cut to the forehead while William had a broken right thigh bone. The trio, carriers for The Monroe Evening Times, were returning from Grinnell cheese factory. The family were injured when Sulzer’s southbound car collided with a Badger bus near Coterman farm south of Burgy Flats. A passing flatbed truck sideswiped the car but driver fled. Barricades closed the highway for over four hours and snowplows worked to clear the drift. An unrelated rear end crash near Green County hospital involved Oscar Johnson Jr. and Marshall Holmes. no injuries.
