CIO Steelworkers president Philip Murray announced a 36 member executive board and 170 member wage policy group will convene in Pittsburgh on Feb 21 to decide whether to extend the current 45 day truce or prepare for a nationwide steel strike set for midnight Feb 23. The ruling comes amid wage stabilization board hearings in Atlantic City and amid clashes with U S Steel economist Bradford Smith who labeled the union economic royalists during the talks.

Ernest C Merrill 66 of Brodhead died at 5 a m today at St. Clare hospital after a heart attack. Born August 16 1885 in Iowa he was a sewing machine dealer and service man. He married Olive Kittleson in 1912 and Fay Franklin Tence in 1936. He leaves his wife and his mother Mary Merrill.
