An elderly Nazi suspect was detained in Darmstadt in the American zone on charges of plotting to kill West German President Theodor Heuss. Hanover police say the man, held for three months, admitted plans to murder the democratic state’s representative, with a diary outlining a bomb attack at Hanover railway station. Heuss visited Hanover November 30. The suspect’s name was not released.
