UW Study Center Planned for Lower Campus Area

Hagenah, executive director of the University of Wisconsin foundation, said the organization likely would have adequate funds to complete a study center on the university's lower campus before June 1947. The center is one of four major projects under consideration, including an art and science museum, an auditorium and a memorial building. Attorneys for the estate of Franklin D Roosevelt ask the New York state tax department to rule if the late president is exempt from 1945 personal income tax as commander in chief at death. The firm filed the request February 5 seeking whether his position makes him a soldier under the tax law. Roosevelt died April 12 in Warm Springs Georgia.
