Flames Destroy Lund Farm Home Near Brodhead
A 17 room farm house valued at 15000 near Brod head seven miles northeast of Brodhead on Highway 13 was destroyed by fire. The Lund family of eight was forced to seek shelter with neighbors as fire conditions and water shortages hampered efforts. Firemen saved adjoining buildings and a Christmas gift accordion and appliances from the heavily damaged home. The blaze started about 3 pm and was reported five minutes after Lund left for the barn.

Monroe police reported two separate accidents involving cars hitting utility poles. Mrs. Gertrude Kueng Dunaway of Route 2 Monroe struck a pole on 16th street around 2 30 p m after losing control in snow. Emil Preisig of Clarno also struck a pole on 13th street and fled the scene. he was later arrested and fined 100 dollars plus costs for operating under the influence.
