After a weekend of rain sleet and fog the Pecatonica River floods reach into the county. Monticello reports standing water on County Trunk EE and Skinner Creek over County Trunk Y as crews work to drain roads. The river overflows at Darlington flooding part of the Lafayette County Fairgrounds.

Clarence Martin 75 a retired well driller died at 2 a.m. yesterday at his home 2711 8th Ave after a prolonged illness. He was a Monroe resident since 1945 born May 5 1889 in Dell Prairie Township Adams County Wisconsin son of Charles and Elizabeth Carter Martin. He married Olive Mason in Wisconsin Dells on Nov 11 1911. Surviving are six children and 34 grandchildren a sister and several in laws.
