Juda Baptist church marks 120th anniversary in Green County
The Juda Baptist church celebrates its 120th anniversary with services this Sunday. The church began as a fellowship in 1840 organized by Rev. William Stillwell and became the Baptist Church of Christ of Sugar River in 1842. It later adopted the Juda name in 1892 after formal corporation. The site, first a log schoolhouse, then a building on land donated by John Chadwick, saw a second structure in 1867 and major remodeling including a bell tower in 1914, with basement excavation in 1954.
