ASCS committee reviews appeals of area farmers
The Green County ASCS office heard 94 appeals on base acreages and normal yields this week with final review starting at 1 p m to allocate limited funds. Farmers will be notified early next week. A 43-member gathering of township committeemen heard about changes in the feed grain program and the new certification method for acreages.

Hoyt C Barney 74 a Green County Highway Department employee and former farmer died of a heart attack at his home 905 9th Ave Monroe yesterday he was born May 8 1890 in Monticello to Robert and Emma Barney He married Esther Simmons February 8 1911 they lived in Green County Madison and Monroe before settling in Washington Township He retired December 31 1960 and was a gravel checker occasionally employed afterward Surviving are two daughters Noreen Dalton Cassville Gwen a stepson Lee Stauffer and two step sisters six grandchildren He was preceded in death by his wife in 1958 and two sons Morris and Norman C Services will be at 2 pm tomorrow at Shriner Neushwaner Funeral Home with Rev Melvin Roehrdanz officiating Burial in Greenwood Cemetery Friends may call at the funeral home.

Moose Order Adopts 12 Siblings After Car Crash
A River Falls family of 12 children orphaned by a August auto crash was taken in by the Loyal Order of Moose. Ten children halted in Madison en route to Mooseheart Illinois where the order runs a child city, with the 11th to join after hospital recovery and the 12th in college. River Falls lodge sponsored the move and Madison Moose members hosted the dinner.
