Lions Hear Film on Kenya by Solomon Wanguru

Solomon Wanguru of Kenya spoke at Marco's Supper Club about his native country and showed color film on Kenya at the Lions Club dinner. He, a Milton College student, discussed Africa's political philosophy and education, comparing it with the United States. His wife, an intern teacher at Monroe High School, attended as a guest. Rev. Donald Storck, leaving Monroe Lions, bid farewell as he and his family plan to move to Pana Illinois where he will pastor a new church.

Myers Elected Monroe Chamber President Heads 1966 Plans

Archie Myers Jr was elected president of the Monroe Chamber of Commerce at a directors meeting in the Commercial and Savings Bank. Stockings Upset Moscow Worker Over Defective Pairs

Kahne Bid Given Okay by Officials

Tree Pickup Slated Here for January 3 and 4

Discarded Christmas trees should be placed at intersections next weekend for collection by city street department crews led by Jack Erb. The trees will be burned later under Monroe Fire Department supervision in the annual Burning of the Greens, a safety effort sponsored by the Green County Safety Council with the city street department and fire department.

Kenya Becomes a Nation film shown at Goetz Theater

A 45 minute film Kenya Becomes a Nation will be shown at 1 30 p m tomorrow in the Goetz Theater. Walter Babula the high school principal invites all students parents and other interested adults to view the film. Solomon Wanguru a UW Madison physics graduate student arranged the screening with embassy support. Wanguru will answer questions after the showing.

Call About Susan Believed a Prank

Rockford Illinois authorities discount a prank call claiming 11 year old Susan Brady is alive. Susan vanished December 20 near her home, four blocks away. An unidentified caller from Bedford Indiana claimed the girl was alive and promised a follow up call but did not. Police traced none. Investigators search amid snow in a 300 square mile area. A $3,000 reward is offered. Susan is daughter of James Brady, 38, reporter for Rockford Labor News.

Wisconsin Endures First Severe Cold Wave of Winter

The Associated Press reports Wisconsin faced its first severe cold spell of the season with readings from 9 below in the Superior area to 8 below in La Crosse. By daylight temperatures rose, with Beloit at zero and Madison near 3 above as arctic winds shifted east toward Lake Erie.

Kastenmeier Recovers After Bethesda Operation

Congressman Robert Kastenmeier of Watertown is reported to be recuperating well after minor surgery at Bethesda Naval Hospital. A spokesman said he entered the hospital yesterday and underwent surgery this morning. he expects release within one to two weeks.
