The 91st Congress ad journed its lengthy first session today and begins a Christmas holiday with only one day to spare. A second session will start January 19, as President Nixon attends a sendoff luncheon with leaders from both parties in the House and Senate.

McLaren warns of a delicate, labor and defense impact when considering breaking up firms. An Interior official reports progress on DDT breakdown via a new chemical tested by Aeroject General Corp.
President William L. Carter of Whitewater State University gained moral support amid campus racial tensions after student clashes. Petition sponsors reported over 300 signatures supporting his disciplinary actions against 10 students since the campaign began Saturday.
The Milwaukee Road announced the Varsity passenger trains between Chicago and Madison will run only on Fridays Saturdays and Sundays for a year. The cut follows ICC approval and removes service on major holidays and days around university breaks effective December 17.

Marian Dean Blumer Isely 60 of 606 22nd Ave Monroe died at 5 40 a m Wednesday Dec 24 at St Clare Hospital after long illness. She was admitting clerk at St Clare for four years and ten years total at the hospital. She was previously employed at Mercy Hospital Janesville while the couple lived there. She was born Nov 10 1909 in Monroe, daughter of Fred J and Bessie Cornwall Dean Blumer. She married Clifford B Isely Sept 20 1937 in Dubuque Iowa. Turn to No 1 Back Page.
The Monroe Board of Education continued a crossing guard at the 9th Street and 16th Avenue crossing for the 3 p.m. rush after a survey showed 28.3 riders then and 22 at 8 a.m. Traffic lights will be installed in two to three months. The board also approved two days of personal leave for teachers within 10 days of sick leave and planned an executive session to discuss negotiations.
Monroe Post Office will be closed for two days, Christmas Day and Friday December 26, with no window or carrier deliveries. Holiday lock box and special delivery service will continue. all postal installations nationwide observe the two day closing.
A Badger Red Cross Bloodmobile report shows 171 pints donated from 182 donors with 11 rejected. Monroe hit 140 pints. replacement donors gave 20 for Garrett Keel, 26 for Dr Alexander Grad, 53 for John Hein.
Mrs. William Wilson formerly Gloria Orton of Twin Grove left O'Hare at 3 10 p m Sunday December 21 for Melbourne Australia with a stop in Honolulu and Fiji. She aims to arrive December 23 after 9 hours 20 minutes flight time in Melbourne. She visited since October 9 for her parents golden wedding day.
