Community ice rinks set to open with weekend hours
The Monroe ice rinks at the former Lincoln School and Monroe High School will open Monday with supervision hours posted. Ron Barribeau Monroe Parks and Recreation director notes weekday hours 1 to 5 pm and 6 to 9 pm at Lincoln Rink and 1 to 5 pm at the high school rink. Sunday hours remain 1 to 5 and 6 to 9 at Lincoln and 1 to 5 at the high school. No Saturday supervision. The Courthouse will close at noon on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve per County Clerk Robert Severson.

Swine flu case reported in Durand farmer and farm staff
A 27 year old Durand Illinois farmer sought treatment for flu after noting ill pigs and another farm worker developed similar symptoms. Dr. Robert Easterday of the CDC was to visit Durand to examine blood and throat cultures. Partial CDC verification exists for a Watertown teen case.
