Michigan Doe Fawn Kill Below Expectation
Michigan hunters posted a poor deer take in the first extensive Michigan season ending Saturday. In a 10 day western district hunt about 11 000 hunters killed under 3200 animals. Deer experts fear the low harvest will not relieve crop damage. Some private land posting occurred but did not significantly lower the take. Snow aided tracking in open areas but blocked some woods roads. An average freight car capacity is 52 26 tons.

Giants Braves Trade Sparks Big League Swap Debate
Baseball observers debate who benefited from the New York Giants and Boston Braves mega trade. The Braves sent Alvin Dark and Eddie Stanky to the Giants for Sid Gordon Willard Marshall Buddy Kerr and Sam Webb, a deal seen as pivotal alongside other major moves including Gerry Priddy to Detroit for 100000 and Browns cash. Advocates note Gordon and Marshall's 38 home runs versus the Giants’ added speed and defense, while others argue the Giants gained balance with Dark and Stanky's infield prowess.
