Corn Trade Boom As Local Farmers Ship Record Loads

Warren area farmers report a record corn shipment with 12 train car loads on December’s second day. Robe Buss, Robert Fieldstad, and Harbach describe planting 850 acres, harvesting 125 bushels per acre, and selling 6,000 bushels to the Chicago Futures Market at $1.28 a bushel freight prepaid. The partners note weather cooperated, planting speed, and the shift from last year’s sales to the current futures contract strategy.

Amitron electric car to share road with gasoline models

American Motors and Gulton Industries unveil the Amitron, a three passenger commuter car with a lithium battery system. The prototype features an 85 inch length, 46 inch height, 60 inch wheelbase, eight inch wheels, and a 150 mile range at 50 mph. Tests to begin within a year with no price announced.

Lions Club Donates to Stocking Club in Holiday Gift

Monroe Lions Club members donated funds to the Christmas Stocking Club instead of the Exchange. The group met at the Swiss Wheel and announced curling bonspiel results with the Lions taking first in the second event. Wisconsin juror says defense may influence her

Mrs Le on Weiss of San Praire sat on a Circuit Court jury for six protesters charged with disorderly conduct from a UW antiwar demo in October. She admitted the defendants could influence her and told the defense attorney that her husband, a barber, could also influence him. She denied reading anything that might affect her verdict.

The Platteville Jaycettes benefit event on November 26 raised over 850 for the Paul Moody family. Marie Moody expressed deep thanks as Paul, father of four, remains paralyzed and in serious condition after a traffic crash. Funds will cover hospital bills and family needs, with relatives from Belmont and Darlington aiding in care.

Warren Board Studies Salary Band Uniforms Purchase Okay

Warren Illinois Times Special reports the Warren District proposes a new salary schedule starting at 6200 with a four percent index, up from 5800 at three percent, adding about 70425 to 1967 68 salaries. The board also approves 100 new band uniforms at 88 dollars each and other district actions.
