The Big Ten restored eligibility for David Fahs, Monroe prep star and MSU sophomore, allowing him to start against Notre Dame in South Bend next Wednesday. Conference officials waived the rule after determining Fahs had made genuine effort to seek clarification and had been given mistaken advice. Several other athletes from Ohio State Illinois Minnesota and Iowa also had eligibility restored amid ongoing Rose Bowl contract talks.

Three Pedestrians Die in Wisconsin Highway Mishaps
Three pedestrians died in Wisconsin accidents raising the 1958 highway toll to 769. Edgar Poppe, 59, died in a Sheboygan hospital from injuries after being struck while crossing near Erdman. Fred Erlichman, 78, of Greenfield, died after being struck while crossing near his Milwaukee County home. Mrs. Della Rosenberg, 82, of Milwaukee, died from injuries suffered Thursday when struck by a car.
