Milton K. Johnson of Johnson Pontiac and Implement Co was elected president of the Monroe Chamber of Commerce by the 1953 board of directors. Lyle Sickinger and O L Hare named first and second vice presidents, Alderman G Fred Galli re elected treasurer, and Executive Secretary O N Johnson hired part time for another year. The board met at Swiss Wheel restaurant and planned no 1952 banquet with bylaws changes to require director elections around Sept 30.

Two Pedestrians Hurt in Mishaps in Green County
Snowy roads left Green County streets slick with ice as two pedestrians suffered injuries today. Clarence Itten of Monticello broke a leg after being struck near White Oak cheese factory. Arvin Blail er of Blanchardville caused the other injury when his car hit a boy and a power company trailer.

Retired Carrier Oscar Paley Found Dead in Milwaukee
The body of 75 year old Oscar Paley was found in his Milwaukee home after his wife said he died Sunday. Police discovered about 26 000 in small bills hoarded in the residence while the widow was hospitalized for observation as investigators sought details of the death.

Mrs. N J Peters of Fond du Lac Dies at 47
Mrs Norman J Peters 47 of Fond du Lac died at St Agnes hospital after a long illness. Born in Monroe August 16 1905 she studied at Monroe High and the University of Wisconsin later serving as assistant librarian. She married Norman J Peters October 12 1929 and they lived in Fond du Lac with son Karl and her mother Willa Walter. Funeral services will be held at Candlish chapel with Rev C T Camp officiating and burial in Reinzi Cemetery.

Former Judge Schein Dies at 69 in Madison
S. B. Schein, 69, longtime member of the Wisconsin Board of Tax Appeals and former Madison Superior Court judge, died today after a heart attack. He began practicing law in 1915 and served as judge from 1927 to 1932, helping draft the children’s code permitting juvenile judges to decide on placement or probation.
