Witt Named Assistant Secretary and Public Information Chair
Mrs. Donald Witt of Monticello was elected assistant state secretary and named public information chairman of the Wisconsin Assn. for Mental Health at a Portage board meeting. She succeeds Mrs. Hans Sulzer of Monroe, who resigned after a three year term. Eli Tash of Milwaukee is the new president. The board includes 39 members of diverse heritage. the state association spans 68 to 72 counties with about 10 000 members.

Southwest Wis Feeder Cattle Co op Sale Yields Strong Prices
Jim Brandemuehl reports the Dec 2 sale drew about 1250 cattle with 435 steer calves averaging 450 lb at 49.25 per cwt and heifers averaging 400 lb at 44.64 per cwt. Steers weighed 768 lb on average at 39.25 per cwt while heifers surpassed 100 lb more and sold near 35 per cwt. More than 200 yearlings were included, with many heavy lots and a larger spread between steer and heifer prices. new and old buyers attended the final 1972 sale.

Wisconsin Transportation Budget Proposes No Tax Increase
Wisconsin proposes a 13.3 per cent higher transportation budget for 1973-75 to cover highway work totaling 40.6 million, funded by savings from license plate changes and other economy moves. The plan includes one plate per car, waived road tests for certain drivers, and reduced inspections to save funds while creating a new transportation commission to guide all mobility needs. The total agency budget would be 658.6 million, with debt service and bridge bonding driving costs to 1975. In a separate note, a Florida court ruled a man innocent of cruelty to a dog atop a pickup, despite long travel claims.
