Rosenstiel Wins Wrestling Crown at Turner Hall

In a keen contest 16 competitors wrestled at Turner Hall with Harvey Rosenstiel of Brown town capturing first place and a wreath and kiss from Bonnie Zumkehr. Hans Bodmer New Glarus earned runner up honors while David Ziltner and David Wald Monroe shared third. Wald won the Schoenschwingen sportsmanship trophy.

Monroe Play Earns B Rating At State Finals

Monroe High School one act play Markheim received a B rating at the Wisconsin State University Stevens Point state finals after performing through sub district district and sectional meets. Ten high schools competed with three earning A ratings and three earning B. David Wangnoss, 20, of Monroe, was treated for a head concussion after his car left Highway 81 and hit a guard post near the John Mueller farm. He was released from St. Clare Hospital, with deputies noting the crash occurred about 2 a.m. on a weekend with other injuries reported in county road accidents.

Heroism Earns DFC for Viet Nam Door Gunner Kuster

Sergeant Robert J. Kuster of Set. was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross at Fort Eustis Virginia for extraordinary heroism near the Viet Nam Cambodian border on March 30. As a UH-1 Huey door gunner he exposed himself to enemy fire, supplied suppressive fire killing 14 Viet Cong, and performed improvised repairs after sustaining critical damage, guiding the aircraft to safety at Pleime.

Secondary Roads Still Hazardous After Freezing Rain

Main roads were fair but many side roads remained hazardous after freezing rain and sleet. City streets stayed dangerous early, glaze of ice on non heavily traveled routes. Untreated county blacktop was treacherous while treated roads improved. The Sheriff's Department reported few traffic tie ups.

The 31st Wisconsin Association for Mental Health meet in Madison honored outstanding volunteers. Walter Conner of Eau Claire and Bert Lingaas of Waukesha won Man and Woman of the Year. Swenson Rites Set for Argyle

Calvin Swenson, a U S Navy member and Argyle High School graduate, died in Honolulu after emergency brain tumor surgery. His body is being flown back. Erickson Funeral Home of Argyle handles arrangements. Son of Burnell and Mrs. Swenson, the family now resides in Madison, with former residence in rural Argyle.
