31 000 Berlin Crisis Troops Now Back Home

This represents about 75 percent of the 41 000 troops, mostly rear echelon elements shipped overseas in late 1961 when the Russians threatened to push the allies out of West Berlin. The remaining 10 000 reinforcements probably will stay with the U.S. 7th Army for some time.
