Monticello Says Goodbye to Soldier Killed in Vietnam
PFC Roger Lee Ritschard 20 of Monticello was honored with a church funeral and military rites after being killed by a booby trap in Vietnam. The service at Zwingli United Church of Christ drew nearly 300 mourners, with Fifth U.S. Army personnel from Fort Sheridan in attendance. The flag at the Monticello marker and local memorials was at half-mast as family and veterans paid their respects.
