MADISON University hospitals said Friday that Ed ward T. Fairchild of Madison, former chief justice of the State Supreme Court, was in satisfactory condition after major surgery. The 88 year old retired jurist entered the hospital Nov. 21. He is the father of Thomas E. Fairchild, a member of the Supreme Court since 1957.

Mrs Margaret Richards 80 of Shullsburg died in Darlington hospital from burns over more than 90 percent of her body after her clothing caught fire at home yesterday. Three Die in Dane County Car Crash Near Stoughton
