Kiwanis to distribute 3000 safety booklets next Friday

Kiwanis announces 3000 safety pamphlets will be available Friday through the following Wednesday as part of Safe Driving Day December 15. Booklets will be distributed at city filling stations to curb traffic mishaps for 24 hours. Delegates for installation ceremonies of Governor elect Ainsworth are named with alternate delegates.

Turner Hall Club Meets Monday Election Plans

The annual Turner Hall club meeting is set for Monday at 8 p m at Turner hall. Officers will be elected along with one director. Ripon Man Kills Divorced Wife and Self in Apartment

Coroner reports a factory worker killed his ex wife Mary S. Burton 35 by slashing her throat then shot himself with a 12 gauge shotgun. The bodies were found by their daughter Jean Burton 8 at about 7 am in the upstairs Ripon apartment where the couple had lived after divorcing on November 5, 1954.

DuPont Trust Action Dropped

U S District Judge Walter J. LaBuy dismissed the civil antitrust suit against DuPont interests General Motors and United States Rubber Co. The court found no conspiracy or restraint of trade and no likelihood of monopolization. The essence of the charged restraint was the alleged limitation on General Motors dealings with competitors.

Butcher admits mercy killing of wife in Milwaukee area

Raymond Wilson, a 65 year old West Allis butcher, told police he killed his 67 year old second wife with a meat cleaver in Milwaukee area home after she suffered from a hip fracture stroke and eye disease. He burned her remains in a furnace and said the killing was mercy. A doctor said Wilson was mentally deranged and unfit for society. Police found bone fragments teeth and a surgical pin in furnace ashes. Wilson initially claimed she had gone to Mexico before admitting the slaying and saying she begged him to end her suffering and that funeral home plans were discussed.

Cheese makers race at Wisconsin Swiss and Limburger meet

Tomorrow at Turner hall the 16th annual Wisconsin Swiss and Limburger Cheese Producers Association contest will crown top Swiss and Limburger cheesemakers. Northeast Airlines Crash Survivor Heroine Named

Five survivors on a remote New Hampshire mountaintop praised stewardess Mary McEttrick known as Merry Mac for her courage during 45 hours before rescue. Co-pilot George McCormick and flight superintendent John McNulty died from injuries, while Captain Peter Carey was the most seriously hurt. Services for Emma J. Manning 84 Monroe native who died Thursday at Janesville will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in Ryan funeral home and 9 a.m. in St William's Catholic church Janesville. Burial in Calvary cemetery Monroe. Rev E C McCollow will officiate graveside. rosary tonight at 8 in the funeral home. She served on Janesville's first city council in 1923 and resigned in 1927 after 40 years. Her life included suffrage work and involvement in peace groups and local women's organizations.
