In Sedalia a 22 year old mother Barbara Middleton waived a preliminary hearing and awaits circuit court action after admitting she hit her 13 month old daughter on the head two or three times when the child cried. The infant died Friday in hospital and Barbara Middleton is charged with second degree murder. She said I lost my head and recalls hitting the head on the floor.

Harold Lester Gregory Kenneth B Gregory and Edward Gregory formerly Marines from Shinnston West Virginia joined the regular army saying they were tired of coal strikes. Capt J A Dries at the local recruiting station stated the trio were idled by the bituminous shutdown and would be better off in the armed services. All three served overseas in World War I.
