Bond proposals face voter resistance statewide
State voters rejected about half of 42 bonding proposals in the first half of the year. Despite some approved issues totaling near double the failed ones, planning delays hinder progress. The Rothschild-Schofield district defeated a 4.9 million bond, then approved a smaller amount. A state aid reform proposal would shift interest payments to aid, easing local burden but not eliminating bond fights.
