Cpl Lyle G Swanton formerly of Monroe has been moved from Tokyo to a Sendai Japan hospital with serious back shrapnel wounds and a scalp wound. He was to undergo surgery August 21 to remove shrapnel from his shoulder after being wounded in mid July on the Korean front. His parents Mr and Mrs Earl Swanton at 1313 23rd avenue have been notified and he wrote home detailing his injuries.

Search Party for Missing Bay Area Child Near Lake Tomahawk
A 150 person search party plus two women combed woods around Lake Tomahawk for five year old David Blucher of Flossmoor Illinois missing since Saturday. Sheriff Melford Krouze directed the operation aided by an airplane. The group looked for fresh digging and trees entanglement clues as weather turned cool after rain. David's father Walter, a city planner, was due in Rhinelander by plane from Europe.

Death of Early Cheesemaker Gottfried Althaus at 77
Albany Times Special reports Gottfried Althaus, a 77 year old cheese maker, died yesterday at the Beloit home of his son Raymond after months of ill health. Born in Canton Bern Switzerland on July 13 1873 he came to America at 21 and worked in cheesemaking including last at Attica. He married Kathryn Zweifel March 28 1905 at New Glarus. Surviving: Raymond Beloit Walter Albany four grandchildren. Funeral tentative Friday 2 pm Sharer Funeral Home Albany. Burial Hitlcrest Cemetery.

Leo Richard Ault 20 of Orangeville was killed in action in Korea on August 19 while serving with Company A 29th Infantry. Born May 9 1930 he was the son of Mrs Della Ault and the late Arthur W Ault. Sec ond Lt. LeRoy K. Wirth 22 serving with the marines on Korea has been wounded in action. He wrote his mother Mrs Emma Wirth now of Janesville to report his wounds and hospitalization in a Korea hospital. Wirth’s injuries were not believed serious. He entered the marine corps five years ago and graduated from officers candidate school last June. He was stationed in Washington and Oceanside before departing from the west coast. A Monticello native he attended local high school.
