Black Hawk Schools Set Open Date And Bus Routes
Black Hawk schools will begin Friday August 24 with classes from 8 30 a m to noon and no lunch served. Bus routes start about 7 a m with drivers stopping and leaving if students are not present. Parents must provide written authorization for disembarking at alternate locations. A farewell picnic for Mr. and Mrs. Tom Zulke and family who move away and a welcome for Mr. and Mrs. Rod Nelson and family into a new home on E Wisconsin Ave were held at the Donald Knobel home. Albany School Board Minutes August 13 1973 Action and Approvals
Albany School Board met at 7 30 P M with president Lawrence Dunphy presiding. Absent were Albertson Blumer and Stefanik. The board approved July 23 1973 minutes and payment of bills 5861 through 5934. It adopted a policy to keep two months expenses on hand and place excess funds in CDs. Staffing for 1973 74 was discussed including a replacement business education teacher Ms Jeanette Wondra and potential agriculture and industrial arts vacancies amid arbitration. Kindergarten will likely have two sections pending August 24 registration. A full time bus driver for Kay Flood Olds remained elusive. Flood will substitute. The board approved a two and a half day speech therapist contract with CESA 17 shared with Brodhead. Lunch and milk prices were kept constant with minor adjustments for extra milk. Bus transportation for Sugar River Parkway residents was approved on a case by case basis. Superintendent Allen reported roof and classroom work progressing and requested an advance school aid of 110 000. bids for a bus replacement would be reviewed in September. A work contract style employment plan for students was tentatively approved to align with Decatur vocational scheduling. Grooming and appearance policies for athletic and extracurricular participants were reviewed with a goal of improvement. dress code remains. The board authorized a 800 maximum joint cost sharing with Albany Lions Club to resurface tennis courts. Substitute pay remained 23. Administrative policies were reaffirmed. Teacher in-service August 22 and district luncheon August 23 were noted. The meeting adjourned at 10 00 P M. The minutes detail receipts disbursements totaling 26 988 92 including payrolls and various services.
