John A. Van Wagenen 54 of 2232 8th Street died at 11 45 today at St Clare hospital after a 12 year illness. He was born December 5 1890 in Monroe and worked as a salesman for Solomon Auto Parts for five years after earlier work with Badger Motors Co. He served as second assistant captain of the Monroe Hook and Ladder Co and belonged to the Universalist church. He married Harriet Eley Lowe July 14 1921 and is survived by four sons S/Sgt Robert in Germany and Donald James and Gerald at home and three daughters Mary Ruth and Carol. Also surviving are two brothers Lewis R Monroe George D Minneapolis and a sister Mrs L O Griffith. Funeral is 8 30 Friday at Shriner Neushwander funeral home with Rev Alvin C Rabehl officiating burial will be in Green.
